7 Chhatra League and Jubo League leaders and activists arrested after torch procession in Chittagong

Seven leaders and activists of the banned organizations Chhatra League and Jubo League have been arrested after a procession with torches and sticks in the Borapul area of ​​Chittagong city.

Police arrested them from the Port Connecting Road area of ​​Bandar Police Station on Monday (September 15) night.

The arrested persons are Md. Ibrahim Khalil Tushar (24), Asif Mahbub (24), Nayan Shil (23), Md. Sagar (25), Zahidul Islam (22), Masud Hawlader (30) and Moin Uddin (30). However, their positions are not known.

Earlier, at around 10 pm yesterday, several leaders and activists of Chhatra League and Jubo League took out a procession with torches, sticks and bricks on the Port Connecting Road adjacent to Borapul intersection and raised various anti-government slogans.

Bandar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Aftab Uddin told Ajker Patrika that seven leaders and activists of the banned Chhatra League, Jubo League and Awami League who participated in the anti-government procession have been arrested. The other accused managed to escape during the operation. Parts of 5 burnt bamboo torches, 11 broken pieces of bricks and two smartphones were recovered from the scene. During interrogation, the accused admitted that they were directly or indirectly involved in the terrorist activities of the banned Chhatra League, including providing support, money, spreading false information, sheltering from home and abroad. They were shown arrested and sent to jail in a case filed under the Anti-Terrorism Act on Tuesday.
